Senior Co-Captain Allie Wojtkun's Grove City Game Blog.......

Tonight we tied Grove City one to one which was an unfortunate outcome based on our performance throughout the game. It was obvious that we showed up to play today; especially because we were playing at home and we had to make up for our last home performance. We came out ready to prove our skills to our fans and as always we are grateful for all the fan support that we received! We went into half-time tied at zeros and we knew what we had to do to tilt the game our way—we needed to keep up the intensity, be first to the ball and find the open side of the field so that our forwards had a chance to receive the ball behind the Grove City defense.
These tactics helped us to achieve the corner kick that we were able to capitalize on. At about the 75th minute Brittany Thomas took the corner kick and hit an in-swinger that grazed off the head of a Grove City defender and into the goal. This goal gave us another boost of energy and we continued to pressure and try to find more chances throughout the rest of the game. Unfortunately with about 25 seconds left we gave up a penalty kick and Grove City was able to tie up the game. Although this situation was less than ideal we never gave up. We fought through both overtimes and continued to attempt to find the back of the net.
I am very proud of my team based on our performance tonight. Although we may not have won, we continued to fight and no one gave up. I am looking forward to our game on Saturday against Westminster so that we have another chance to win in front of our home fans!
